To celebrate the recent opening of The Wistar Institute’s Robert and Penny Fox Tower, join Wistar scientists and conceptual artists Joel Erland and Kate Kaman—creators of the Institute’s “Caspar” kinetic sculpture—for an Art + Science Open House inspired by the beauty and complexity of the  scientific world.

Enjoy a night that weaves together art, science, and Wistar history through microscopy (photography through microscopes), a meet-and-greet with the artists of the newly-commissioned sculpture, a microscope demonstration, a historic display of Wistar artifacts, and more.

The event, which takes place on Wednesday, November 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, is an exploration of the close connection between art and science and highlights the work of Wistar researchers, who use photography in a dynamic way to study cancer growth and cell invasion.

Artwork by Joel Erland and Kate Kaman, and Wistar’s James Hayden, Dr. Kazuhiro Noma, Dr. Jessie Villanueva, Cecilia Caino, Dayana Rivadeniera, and the late Gerd Maul. "Caspar" was made possible through a partnership with The Center for Emerging Visual Artists.
